a good time at sarawak club

I am an avid fan... no, actually addicted to vietnamese prawn at Sarawak Club.... Yesterday Mon (5.10.09) we had lunch there with our good buddy Bob @ Uncle Bob to our little boy EMIR...

Believe it or not... most likely those who knows me would believe it.. i finished the whole bowl of a 39gm worth of prawns all by myself!

During the first tri-mester of my pregnancy with Emir, there are times when I couldnt hold any food at all and there are times when I could just eat a whole lot but when it comes to buffet, my pregnancy seems to be agree-able to eating and eating and eating... if my memory serves me right, I went to a lot of buffets with Erwin and Bob during my pregnancy...

I suppose that's why Emir had this kinship with his Uncle Bob and an immediate liking to him =)

He had memories of him since even before he was born =)

Anyhow, Emir saw some huge sized toys there and couldnt resist (of course) playing there despite the hot sun....

Injection

It's the fourth day of raya and we decided to bring Emir to see Dr Alex of Normah Medical Special Centre (NMSC) for his shot. This time around it's for polio and tetanus shot I think.

Initially the shot was supposed to be on the 22.9 but it was a public holiday so they called to come to another date instead. Hence many parents decided to bring their children to nmsc today too and hence the one hour waiting.

What Emir did while waiting for his turn:

In the mean time, Emir's weight now is 11.8 - 12kg kg and Dr Alex said it's a good no. Alhamdulillah.

We're happy. His next shot would be after he turns 2 which is 5 months from now on 28.02.010. Then we spent the whole afternoon at the SPRING cause we wanted some sense of something normal after the chaotic visiting raya for the past three days. Emir did the no 2 at mph bookstore so we wanted to go and change his popo pants but the thing was he was screaming his head off refusing to let go of this animal book so Erwin said to just pay off the book. So I did. Turned out it was RM47.10! Not that I want to be stingy with my own anak but it's meant for a three year old.

Emir said Duck-ie"

I suppose that explains the fascination with the book because 1. he recognises the ducklings pic on the cover of the book and 2. everytime he takes his bath there will be his duck-ies accompanying him =)

These are pictures taken prior to the popo incident. He saw these two girls reading at a corner so he grabbed a book (yes, you guessed it correctly - the book from the popo screaming head incident ) and joined in :)

The both of us combined and later on his grandparents couldn't compete with his endless energy. At his grandparents' house he was climbing and running and laughing and dancing and singing... Well, you get the picture.

Kitchen Aid Artisan

Speaking of pictures, here are some of things we did today: at Parkson Grand, Erwin found my "dream"...... I SO want this for myself despite having bought myself one heavy duty mixer.

In the mean time, Emir thought the magnetic price tag was a handphone so he decided to say hello ;P

Later that night I had fever aiyaa... In fact got some baking to do... Aiyaa...

Our First Open House @ Sun @ 27.9.2009

Ok, It's the day before our open house and in actual fact we've been planning for the past three except then there were not enough manpower until both my sis and cousin were transferred back to Kuching both respectively from Johor and KL.

Of course we slept late that night preparing for the two main dish chicken soto and spaghetti (the main chef was my sister of course! Kudos to her for preparing both dishes which got many praises from our guests).

Erwin's mom made chicken briyani and dhal and we ordered 250 pieces of satay . I baked cupcakes too (later didn't have the time to make the buttercream and served them plain - which was better coz later on we packed them individually and gave them away as door gifts). Over all it was a success! We are happy!

Alhamdulillah, guests were all well fed, angpows and cupcakes were all given away. Emir didn't want to sleep what with all the raya open house commotion but later one when Kak umi (one of his pengasuh (nanny) from the nursery came, it took her a few minutes to make little Emir fall asleep - we call it the nanny power). He slept almost two hours which gave us ample time to entertain our guests.

From this first experience, we now know and Insya allah would be more prepared for next year's open house.

One of the changes we would make would be time would be allocated for each family members' guests to come for eg Erwin's friends would come from such and such time, then it'd be for my guests etc etc all in all, we had a good time, tiring but a satisfying experience ......

We didn't have time to take pictures of our first raya but the aftermath picture says it all: anyways, Selamat hari raya peeps and maaf zahir batin and may Allah swt blesses us all!

Raya Reunion 23.9.2009 @ the Banquet

Last night my friends and I had a mini reunion at the Banquet. Thanks to facebook, communication was easy and the determination of our friend, Iswardy Morni @ Sotong and Hj Fuad, the mini first attempt reunion finally realised! 16 people attended and there were 6 kids (1 belongs to me, Aimie brought 2 and Is brought 3).

Some just met each other the day before yet it feels like they've not meet each other for years. Kids were restless and crying. Food were gone in seconds. Endless photo sessions, catching up with the never old stories and memories and updating new ones. Married, not married, changes... Or not much physical changes (?)....

After all, all the faces I saw that night was exactly the same ones I have from my memories all the way back in the year 1994! Which is definitely a good good thing! Forever young!

All in all it was a success as evidently shown in the pictures herein (courtesy of friends).
In the mean time emir was busy helping the floor manager hanging up drapes on stage.

Raya 2009

It's already the 4th day of syawal @ 23.9.2009, it's been quite a ride since the Penyimpan Mohor Besar (the bearer of good news =)) announced that raya would fall on the 20.9.2009. And somehow or rather on the eve of raya, we'd be busy with cooking and tidying up the house till the wee hour of the night. I don't know why we do this but we just do it.

I remember my first raya as a married couple, at 3-4am my husband, Erwin and my brothers were still making rolled popia (with their eyes half closed). Why we do this to ourselves, I don't know. But this year was an improvement, we slept at 230 am, which was early for our usual standard.

Emir is 1 year and 7 months and actually he's shot is due today and that would be the time when I'd know how tall and how much he weighs. He's vocabs is growing and happy to say he can finally say mummy and first day of raya he can already say "hari raya" :) (beaming with pride as if my little emir has solved world hunger... ).
Emir now can say cat and can identify a few of our cats (out of the 11 cats we have) by name and if you were to ask him what sound does a cat makes, he'd say meow on top of his lungs. He can say daddy, anjang, udak, usu, nenek, rumah, sik mauk (which means "I don't want"), bird, car, flower, apple, duck-ie, cookie, mandik... And cupcakes of course.

He's shy around strangers but once he has overcome his shyness he's the friendliest of the lot and would shower you with his heart melting smiles. He throws the occasional tantrums. Now he's still learning how to share and play with others. He runs instead of walking. Un-stable. He can count 1 2 3. He dances now. And if you raise his voice whenever he did something wrong he'd pretend to cry so that he'd get off scott free.

He would get his "time out" time whenever he did something really bad and he knows it coz he'd never leave the "time out spot "till we say ok and he'd Salam with us and give us a big hearty hug and knows that He's forgiven.

When I see him asleep at night, i am every day Thankful and grateful to Allah swt for giving us this most beautiful and precious life to us... sentimental sentimental

Anyhow peeps, do take care and yup, we're not done with raya visiting.... next week another round to go... we haven't had the time to visit our next door neighbours even... sigh....

Titbits raya this time around

What is there to say about this raya?

We went to visit our late mom's grave on Friday, 2 days earlier cause it's impossible to go to Samariang area during the first day of syawal what with the massive traffic jam there during that time. Then I got red eye (my left eye) apparently due to a bacterial infection aka conjunctivitis. Went to Normah Medical Specialist Centre. Poor thing, that's what the nurses told me, how then am I going to take my raya photos ;) Luckily it subsided with eye drops and ointment. Of course then there was Erwin's high fever on the second day of raya. Alhamdulillah he recovered the very next day.

As they say, mcm mcm ada ;P

One the 1st day of Syawal, we had our favourite popia for breakfast with hot tea and ate tremendous amount of soto throughout the day (which is my sister's specialty).

Noon time I went to my in law's place, gave raya angpow to Emir's cousins and Salam raya with erwin's parents and brothers and my sister in law (with compulsory raya tears of course). This time around raya is even livelier cause Emir who's almost 1 year and 7 months can join in the festivity and play with his 2yr10 month old cousin, Shaerman and his 1yr9 month old sister, Suszainne.

In the afternoon went to my friend, Ellyn's open house at her new house and saw little baby Qaisara Khadijah who is now 7 months old and cuteness cuteness!!!

Later that night we went to visit Erwin's grandmother (on his mom's side). She took care of me during my confinement and took care of Emir when I didn't have any clue how to take care of my new born baby.

We came home roughly around 1130-ish after we visited 2 more houses (Mother in law's sister's place and Father in law's brother's place).

Could hardly lift a finger after that! And it is only the first day of raya!

FRESH START

I have neglected just another blog due to my laziness and my procrastination self and the absurd thoughts that I could remember it all. Plus I was consumed with updating http://anor-mycupcakes.blogspot.com/

Erwin and I have this habit of asking each other questions like (which I believe most parents are doing?) for example, when did emir actually started walking? or remember the time when emir first climbed a chair?

I used to keep journals of my daily activities manually (since my school-ing and uni days) and I've kept some in various boxes in our house's store (there are movie stubs in there, from bus tickets to written notes from fren) but then when we finally manage to clean the store, I had to throw them away due to storage and cleanliness issues.

Then there's this powerful medium called blogging where the mechanisms are friendly and it is such a sinch to maintain. It is so powerful that it brings people together, bring friends much closer and up to date with the going ons with their own circle of friends or may even form new friendship and have your own personal followers.

I myself have started my own cupcakes adventure through blogging and so do drop by at http://anor-mycupcakes.blogspot.com/.

Anyhow, I've decided that my " just another blog " will have a fresh start. It shall document things that some may find mundane and some may find something in common. But the main aim would be to document my little boy's development and so maybe when I'm old and my grandchildren thinks that I'm too ancient to even know what a computer is, I'd show them that I blogged... And have religiously kept it to document my small little world and how it revolved around family and friends... And I'd be so proud!

Plus having my own new Nokia E71 makes it easy for me to do just a write up in my office document and will just upload and edit them later.

Insya allah, I may log in and re-read this entry years down the road and would be glad that I kept it.

Do follow my development and see whether I'd be true to my word!
