KNEE

My son is now almost 12kg and I for one, despite all my motherly love I, cannot hold him for long ... coz he is heavier than a bag of rice... and that would be his daddy's department - carrying Emir around ... can you imagine lugging around that much weight for 1-2 hour while window shopping... say at the huge compounds of the SPRING!

So, finally his knee gave in, last sun it was a bit swollen and Erwin thought that it'd be ok by next morning but then once he woke up that monday morning, the right leg has swollen and the swelling on his knee has become more apparent and he could hardly walk.

So, we went to Normah for a check up and he was sent to A & E and later on was sent to get an x-ray. Doctor said it'd be better to have MRI done, but he told us it would cost.. gasp! RM700!! So, we settled with x-ray instead. It costs a bomb!! I asked my sister how much SGH would cost and she told me that referral from Normah would be charged the same but if it is a direct case at SGH and not an emergency case like Erwin, then he would be put on a waiting list.

So we decided to follow the doctor's advise to just see how it goes for the next two days. And we have a trip coming over the weekends which we have been looking forward to.... hopefully Erwin would be completely healed by then. Insya Allah.

He was given a 2 day leave (which I think is not enough - which later turned out to be true to my word cause today he's still limping and he said his leg is still throbbing). So I told him to get another leave just to make sure.

Medical costs now are very costly... and I do pray and hope that Allah swt will always have His grace and blessing on us all... especially when it comes to our health and well being... amin

Sempat hahaha....
Do take good care of your self peeps.... money, anything and everything doesnt mean squat when you are not in the best of your health!

Ok, so (and of course!) we wanted to have our usual mee pok/kolok at Sepinang Sari Cafe and as usual, have booked in advance for our meal and even called Aisyah to book atleast one table for us bearing in mind the crowd there on sundays. But to our dismay, Aisyah told us that she couldnt book any for us as there were too many people that day which we totally understand.

We were so hungry that we decided to just "tapaw" our mee and decided to go and eat else where... the nearest and FASTEST was Singapore Chicken Rice nearby... so we ate.. but it doesnt taste the same and neither was the satisfaction of the same...

Anyhow, here are some of pictures taken that day:

Toh Yuen Restaurant @ Hilton @ Tues @ 13.10.2009

Birthdays are a big thing in our family.

When my late mom was alive, there will always be makan-makan to celebrate this day. I do miss her a lot...

Anyways, my brother Yusuf's birthday was last month 25.9.2009 and unfortunately I was sick with high fever and was bed-ridden for two days. So I forgot... and I felt so bad... but the week after we had an open house so Erwin said it's a double celebration... our first raya open house cum Usup's bday celebration hehehe...

My sister's birthday was on 13.10.2009 and since Erwin had the 50% discount voucher at Hilton's Toh Yuen Restaurant and so what better time to try and use the same and have some fancy smancy fine dinin dinner. I mean we could have gone an ate our heart out eating seafood at Taman Kereta... but once in a while dinner with nice ambiance would be a nice change dont you think?

It rained that night so we were glad that we decided to go to Hilton otherwise we'd be having dinner in the rain hehehe

So we arrived at 8-ish and so the restaurant has prepared our dishes and was ready to serve. Emir was in a foul mood coz he was already sleepy in the car but I didnt let him fall asleep and tried my best to distract him until we reached Hilton coz he has not had his milk that evening and I do not want to go to sleep on an empty tummy.

Alhamdulillah, he managed to stay awake just in time to catch my brother, my cousin Milah, my sis and Usup's special friend, Ayon taking pictures in the parking lot. God, they're so vain hehehe

While waiting for the food to be served, the girls and Usup took like a million no of photos inside and outside the restaurant and Erwin and I and Emir went to the cafe near the lobby to buy a slice of cake to be shared between Usup and Jijah (we meant this to be a surprise but later on a waiter came and asked whether the cake is to be served before or after dinner...bummer)... The slice of marble cheese cake was nice...

We bought Emir one cheese bun (which later we found out was filled with lots and lots of creamy cheese - no wonder it cost a bomb!) coz he gets very cranky when he is hungry... just like his daddy... and yes mummy too hehehe

So, we had fish, bamboo chicken (specifically ordered for Emir) with white rice. We had an agreement that we wont order drinks coz they are ridiculously over priced and agreed to a shared pot of jasmine tea... but later one the bday girl said she just had to have a glass of coke, so everybody followed suit... and guess what, the one (1) can of Coke cost RM9! (Later on Erwin bought one huge bottle of Coke and 100 Plus at 7-11 and both didnt even amount to RM9! and My cousin stopped at a UniShop to also buy one huge bottle of Coke and later on my brother who came back after sending Ayon off to Samarahan, came back with also a huge bottle of soda water).... and all the four bottles cost cheaper than the 5 cans of coke we had at Hilton...

All in all, we had a good time... the food was nice (but knowing my family members they would prefer to be guzzling down huge amount of food at Taman Kereta)... the place was lovely.... the service was fantastic of course...

Emir "cannot tahan" (couldnt stand it already) that he gave me this look when I took this picture... time to go home mummy it's pass my bed time and I am sleepy...

... Once we reached home, with him screaming his head off... we had to clean him up a bit and change his clothes before he goes off to bed...

... so tired.... nap time....

Happy birthday Anjang Jijah and Udak Usup. May you be happy always and may you will always be blessed with the grace and blessing of Allah swt.

Emir's Second Raya celebration at Nursery (Taska Hikmah Bina) Petra Jaya

There was a notice in front of Emir's nursery inviting parents to attend their raya celebration at the nursery on Friday @ 9.10.2009 starting at 430pm. We were told to bring food and drinks and that the kids are to wear their raya clothings. Erwin and I were looking forward to this cause we know Emir would be very happy having his parents at his "school"...

This is Emir's second raya celebration at the nursery but a first for us as parents and we were looking forward to it. We know we'll have a good time and Emir would enjoy himself there esp when the two of us are there.

I thought a cake would nice for the event and I made a 10" vanilla flavoured sponge cake (layered with fresh cream and peaches) and frosted with vanilla buttercream frosting and made some cupcakes for the event.

I made some vanilla cupcakes too... I put very little buttercream as I didnt want any of the parents to blame me for the sugar rush and any of their kids climbing walls due to excessive sugar intake..

The spread were wonderful and that the parents are very generous with their contributions for the day.

We get to see Emir in his elements hehehe

(see how smartly dressed he is in his Baju Melayu.... prior to food and drinks of course)

He was all looking mighty fine in his baju melayu... before he had food and drinks.. later on he was going around shirt-less before we manage to catch him and put on a shirt...

Emir sat still for the photo session:

From Left: Ibu (the principal), Kak Mon, Me, Intan (Rizqie's mother), Kak Umi

Later on, he got bored with all the photo sessions and was adamant to be off scott free... See, how "Easy" it is go get Emir to settle down and take pictures.

NOTE: Can you see what he's doing while everyone was taking pictures?

Emir, Kak Umi and I

Kak Umi - who has taken care of Emir since he was 2 months old - she helped me a lot with raising Emir (being a cluess new mom that I was) and answered a lot of my questions... Thank you Kak Umi for taking care of my heart and soul.... and if only my mother was still alive... sigh.... she would have loved Emir with all her heart.... sob sob sob...

Some of the pictures taken:

Emir's mummy and daddy

Emir mamam mee with mummy

Oh ya, he can smile on cue now... if you say "Smile Emir", he'd give you this grin:

Few pictures of the cake taken before we left for home:

We had a good time with good food and good company. Emir had a blast and a full tummy that is what matters the most!

Wakaf Seminar at Grand Margherita @ 9-10/10/2009

I attended this Implementation of Wakaf seminar at Grand Margherita @ 9-10/10/2009 on behalf of my office. It was well attended and there were 6 project papers altogether.

What struck me the most out of this seminar is that wakaf can do so much for the ummah and I learnt that University Al-Azhar was the product of Wakaf and can you imagine the numbers of students they have produced every year!

I was impressed with WAEES Investment (a company operating under the Wakaf principles) dealing with wakaf properties in Singapore and how they have developed and generated huge amounts of income out of the Wakaf properties and I do hope that the implementation of Wakaf in Sarawak would be able to emulate the same.

Sometimes, you do know that Seminars do get the best of you.... like one of the emcee said: "Hopefully no one is using "cermin mata kulit" (skin sunglasses) at the moment...." Initially, I was like... what?!! Then only it dawned on me that it was "falling asleep" during the seminar ie... your eyes are closed... get it? hehehe funny

And some resorted to bringing tidbits and raya biscuits... very ingenious... why not make yourself wholly comfortable to last throughout the seminar right?

One of the speakers who happened to sit next to me was actually my senior during my high school years and since I am very good with faces and the fact that she has not changed much, helped to.

Anyhow, the seminar was very informative and was good experience for me.

Note: the last pic is just for fun.. i thought the chandelier looked lovely!

One of Our Fav (breakfast) food - mee pok and mee kolok at Sepinang Sari Cafe, flyover Jalan Satok

My family and I are addicted to Sepinang Sari Cafe's mee pok and mee kolok and it has been our ritual to eat our breakfast there every weekend.

That's my friend Aisyah...

The fact of the matter is that, we have to pre-book our mee (luckily Aisyah, the proprietor, Haji Salleh's daughter is my friend) and I would call her personally to do the same. And that there are many mee pok and mee kolok enthusiasts other than our family and that they are just like us willing to wait for hours (sometimes) for our delicious mee.

On a good day, we are served immediately because the place is run very efficiently by Aisyah (who does the mee), her sister (Ida) who handles the order together with another helper, KO and the drinks are prepared by Ina. On a peak hour time like during weekends, like last Sun @ 11.10.2009, we waited almost one (1) hour for our mee.

Usually there would be Eight of us, but since my cousin was working that morning and my youngest bro is in UiTM Shah Alam at the moment, There were the five of us: Erwin, Emir and I and my sis, my cousin and my sister. Erwin had to entertain Emir else where because he got tired of waiting and was restless. Later on, they came back with orange juice and some fruits which they bought at Wisma Satok nearby.

Some pictures taken during the one hour plus wait:

Oh ya, we also love the tendon soup and the beef soup.

One hour of waiting and took less than 5 minutes to gobble everything up.

Then we'd be looking forward to next weekend again...

Seriously the mee is that good!
